CRRSAA

1)   Buckeye Hills Career Center Adult Education has accepted and received Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students through Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) – Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) II from the U.S. Department of Education.

2)   The total amount of funds that the institution has received from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement [for] Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under CRRSAA – HEERF II funds is $113,253, with an additional $131,607 of Institutional Portion of HEERF II funds allocated for emergency grants to students.

3)   The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students under CRRSAA – HEERF II as of 4/14/2021 – $234,657.50 emergency aid to students.

4)   The total number of students at the institution eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students was 147 students.

5)   The total number of students who have received Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under the CRRSAA – HEERF II Act as of 4/14/2021 is 115.

6)   Per guidance from the U.S. Department of Education, these emergency grant funds were distributed to our students with exceptional need and/or students who have certified that they have experienced a financial hardship or incurred expenses as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic. 147 eligible students were notified by email with CRRSAA HEERF II information and a link for the Google Form to request or decline the emergency grant funds.

Eligible students met the following requirements: 

  • Students must be currently enrolled or successfully completed their program from the time the student’s request for emergency funds was submitted. Withdrawn students at the time of disbursement were ineligible to receive funds.
  • Students attending full or part time programs and have incurred eligible cost of attendance or emergency expenses are eligible. *Students enrolled in free classes were not eligible for emergency grants.
  • Students must submit a request for funds (via Google Form) and certify they have incurred expenses or experienced a financial hardship due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and that they will utilize the emergency grant relief funds to cover those associated costs.
  • In addition to certifying expenses incurred or financial hardship, students must also meet one of the following eligibility requirements: Provide explanation of expenses incurred or financial hardship experienced, suffered loss of income in 2020-2021, Pell Grant eligible, Household income below the 2021 200% Federal Poverty Guidelines, or receive assistance/benefits from federal/state programs.

Once all the replies were received by the submission deadline of 3/26/2021 ; the District calculated the individual grant amount based off of 120 eligible requests received.  HEERF II funds were disbursed to 115 eligible students as of the date of disbursement 4/14/2021.

**Eligible students with an outstanding balance were given the option on the Google form to elect to have their CRRSAA – HEERF II funds applied to their student account or receive funds via check and mailed directly to student.

7)   Eligible students were notified by email via the student messenger system with CRRSAA -HEERF II information and a link for the Google Form to request or decline emergency grant funds. 147 students were given the opportunity to fill out a Google Form in which they had to certify they have incurred expenses or experienced financial hardship due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic. Eligible expenses were explained to include any component of the student’s cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to Coronavirus; tuition, course materials, technology, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or childcare.   In addition to student messenger notifications (emails & texts), students were informed in the classroom by Coordinators, Instructors and the Dean informing them of the opportunity to request the emergency grant funds.
