    Program Description

    Industrial maintenance technicians work in manufacturing plants where they operate, maintain and troubleshoot industrial machines. The job requires diagnostics, equipment maintenance and parts replacement.

    Credential Potential

    Successful completers of this program can earn OSHA, FANUC Handling Tool, Allen Bradley PLC,  and MSSC certifications, and have a State Certificate for completed hours.

    Electricity

    Electricity, 300 Hours

    This introductory course is for persons without electrical background.

    Topics will include: residential wiring, single pole switching, 3-way switching, 4-way switching, split receptacle wiring, GFCI ground fault receptacle wiring, ARC fault receptacle wiring, some NEC code topics, main breaker panel installation, residential low voltage wiring for internet and phone, wiring sizing, and breaker selection.

    Use of electrical tools to include electrical multi-meter and cable testers. Introduction to commercial/industrial electrical wiring methods to include EMT conduit bending. Standard across the line motor starter wiring for single and remote start stop stations. Electrical symbols, wiring diagram class for industrial controls, and heater selection for motor protection. An in-depth study of A.C. motors, A.C. motor controls, and transformers.

    Materials covered: motor construction, three-phase motor theory, single-phase motors, multi-speed motors, interlocking motors, reversing starters, multi-speed control, NEC Code for motor control, troubleshooting machinery control circuits, introduction to electronics for industry, basic theory of industrial lighting, electrical heating design, programmable controllers, variable frequency drives, and advanced electrical safety.

    This class is designed to further the student’s knowledge and ability in modern industrial electricity. Includes 10-hour OSHA class. Tool list supplied by instructor.

    Availability of programs and courses are dependent on enrollment and the approval of administration.

    Mechanical

    Mechanical, 400 Hours

    Mechanical 176-hours – Introduction to machine shop practices. Topics include: safety, precision measuring instruments, filing and sawing, beginning vertical milling machine operations, horizontal band saw operation, chucking lathe operations, drill press operations, hand threading, machine shop blueprint reading. Introduction to Maintenance Practices, Introduction to Robotics, and CNC Program­ming. Also includes: lathe threading and boring and milling keyways. Introduction to bearing vibration analysis and rotating member balancing, bearing installation, V-belt alignment, shaft alignment. Introduction to Fanuc 6-Axis robotic material handling programming, vertical 3-Axis CNC mill pro­gramming. Tools required: List supplied by the instructor. Includes 10-hour OSHA class.

    Hydraulics and Pneumatics 100-hours – This course introduces the participant to the basics of hydraulics and pneumatics and their usage in the world around us. Topics include: principles of hydraulics and pneumatics, properties of hydraulic fluids, filtration systems and problems of contaminants in the systems, identification of hydraulic equipment and how it is used in the system, pneumatic compressors, air treatment and filtration in pneumatic systems, identification of pneumatic equipment and utilization in the system, “Hands-on” practice using table top trainers.

    Welding 64-hours – Introduction to DC Arc Welding using the 6010 and 7018 electrode in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions. Oxygen acetylene cutting with the hand torch and track burning machine, equipment operation, material setup, and safe work procedures. This course is only offered as part of the Industrial Maintenance w/ Hydraulics Pneumatics Program or by special permission.

    Auto CAD – 60 hours – Basic Introduction to AutoCAD.
