Program Description
A Surgical Technologist is a professional who works under the direction of a licensed surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures.
The Surgical Technologist possesses expertise in theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combines the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and techniques to facilitate a physician in performing invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
Employment opportunities include: hospitals, free-standing surgery centers, physician’s offices, veterinarian offices, sales, sterile processing, and education. The program provides the student with information and experience necessary to prepare competent entry-level surgical technologists in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and effective (behavior) learning domains.
Credential Potential
Upon successful completion, the individual is eligible to take the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Exam. www.nbstsa.org
Accreditation
The program reports to the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA) and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).

Program Length
1342Clock Hours
July – June
Mon – Fri 8:30AM to 3:00PM for classroom instruction.
Clinical experience is held off site in a variety of surgical settings, days and times will vary.
Students are responsible for transportation to and from clinical sites.
Strict attendance is required.

Admission
Enrollment begins February 1, 2023 and continues until class is filled with approved applications. Applicants will be required to complete the 24 hour Introduction to Health Academy class at no cost. Click here for more info.
Upon entrance to the program the following will be required: CPR/First Aid/AED certification (valid for the length of the program), a drug screen, a completed physical exam, and a BCI and FBI background check (a felony or positive drug screen can prevent the student from continuing in the program).
