Program Overview:
The Welding program gives students classroom and hands-on experiences concentrated on all types of metal welding and cutting by using arc, gas, MIG, and TIG welders. Students also develop skills needed to work in the metal fabrication industry. Students plan and lay out work from blueprints using knowledge of the properties of metals. They develop safety practices and an appreciation of good workmanship. Job opportunities include welder, production welder, structural steel worker, apprentice ironworker, and metal fabrication occupations. Students qualifying may earn “Entry-level Welder” certification through the American Welding Society. Along with the credential, students have the opportunity to earn college credit.
